It Has Always Been You

When Mars and the Moon come nearer
in view, two night sky companions
together so true—

It has always been you.

There is a quality to your voice like
my mother's heartbeat heard before I
was born: a swell of calm and rightness
in this world washes over me every time
I hear it.

It is unmatched by any sound except that
of your own heartbeat which I wish to
bottle up and carry with me always,
because—

It has always been you.

We are the same in our smiles; they are
not really lost, but restrained. We can
smile again.

Though I feel your smile purely, like
the first rays of warm morning sunshine
tingling on my skin.

When we are combined, quantumly entangled,
or otherwise finely intertwined, there is
nothing in this life like it;

we just fit.

Made up my mind to hand you my heart, to
fully trust and love you unconditionally.

Please.

Give me your complete self and make one
whole loving experience with me.

No voice I can find in a song I could
sing or art I pour out or poem scratched
by heart could tell you these things
like the lyrics of my soul as it
constantly sings—

It has always been you.
